What’s happening at your door?
Not every situation is urgent. Pick the closest one.
Locked out
We will ask what type of door and lock you have, and confirm you are an owner, tenant or authorised occupant. Where practical, entry is gained without damaging the door or hardware.
LockoutsInside the lock
A cross-section of a modern pin tumbler cylinder. Select a component to see what it does. Nothing here explains how to bypass a lock — it explains why a lock either works properly or does not.
Cylinder
The part the key enters. It rotates only when the internal components sit at the correct heights.
The right fix for the right lock
Six things make up almost all of our work. Some are urgent, most are not, and the difference matters — an unreliable back door and a snapped key in a front cylinder are not the same job.

Built for Melbourne’s mix of homes & businesses

Within a few streets you can find a 1930s bungalow with original mortice hardware, a post-war brick home on its second set of locks, a five-year-old townhouse with euro cylinders, and a shopfront door that cycles hundreds of times a day.
They need different hardware and different installs. Treating them the same is how a lock starts binding within a year of being fitted.

Homes, units and townhouses
Most household lock work is quietly overdue: a back door that needs a shove, a laundry lock that only turns one way, a key that never came back. We look at the whole set of doors rather than one lock in isolation.
Residential locksmith Shopfronts, offices and tenancies
Commercial doors work harder, and hardware that is nearly worn out fails at the least convenient moment. Most of what we do here is replacing tired hardware before it strands someone outside, and keeping keys accounted for as staff change.

What does a locksmith actually do?
A locksmith works on mechanical locks, keys and door hardware — repairing, replacing, installing and rekeying locks, cutting keys, and providing access to properties for authorised occupants who have been locked out.
When should I replace a lock rather than repair it?
Replacement makes sense when the hardware is worn, damaged or no longer suited to the door. If the problem is alignment, paint build-up or a misplaced strike, an adjustment is usually the better answer — we check before recommending replacement.
What is the difference between replacing and rekeying a lock?
Rekeying changes the internal configuration of the existing lock so previous keys stop working, while the hardware stays on the door. Replacing removes the hardware and fits new hardware. Rekeying is usually the lower-cost option when the existing lock is in good condition.
Can you help if I have been locked out?
Yes, for owners, tenants and authorised occupants. We will ask about the door, the lock and the property when you call, and we may ask for identification or evidence of occupancy on arrival.
Can you replace a damaged lock?
Yes. Damaged locks and entry hardware — including hardware damaged in a forced-entry attempt — are common work for us on both residential and commercial doors.
Do you install new locks on doors that have never had one?
Yes, subject to the door itself being suitable. Hollow-core doors, very narrow stiles and some aluminium sections restrict what can be fitted, so we assess the door first.
